T-Mobile adheres to the standards of limits

T-Mobile understands the discussion and concerns about electromagnetic fields that are produced by antenna installations. However, T-Mobile is convinced that the mobile communications technology which is now used is safe for everybody:

  • There has been a wealth of scientific research into the effects of electromagnetic fields on human health. On the basis of these investigations, international standards have been laid down which include a wide safety margin. T-Mobile adheres to these standards and still remains well within the limits.
  • The World Health Organization and the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) are convinced that there are no health risks involved with mobile communication.
  • Field measurements in the vicinity of a GSM base station of T-Mobile frequently show that the intensity of the electromagnetic fields stays well within the limits.

Standards and limits
The intensity of electromagnetic fields is expressed in Volts per metre. For GSM (1800 MHz) the limit is 58 Volts per metre and for UMTS (2100 MHz) the limit is 61 Volts per metre. Exposure to these levels 24 hours a day for a lifetime will not produce any ill effects. Furthermore, these limits are 50 times as stringent as the level which could have an effect on human health.
